The writer William Zinsser has died at 92. There’s a good chance you know Zinsser from his seminal book, On Writing Well. It would be next to impossible to figure out how many teachers have used the book in their classes and how much its lessons on clarity and style have benefitted students.
Zinsser also wrote a regular column for The American Scholar late in his life. On the occasion of his 2012 National Magazine Award for Digital Commentary, the magazine collected links to all of his Zinsser on Friday columns on one page. Farewell, Mr. Zinsser. Students and writers everywhere will know your name for many years to come.
